About Training/Capacity Building Programmes

Quality concerns in school education are among the priorities of CBSE as they play a pivotal role in the development of the country. The Board is committed to make provisions for various training programmes for teachers and principals to enhance their understanding of curriculum and delivery mechanism and other professional qualities. Through the Cascade mode, the Board selects and trains master trainers and mentors for ensuring the benefits of these programmes to percolate down to all the teachers and students in the schools. The training of the teachers assumes even greater significance in the wake of Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act-2009 to ensure the target achievement as per the proposed teacher student ratio proposed in the Act. A brief description about all the training programmes is as follows:

English (Class X)

The Programme has sessions that equip the participants to execute their teaching content with better understanding of pedagogy. Sessions provide insights on the objectives of English Teaching in India and the associated Policy frameworks. Hands on activities on the four language skills- Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing prepare the participants to replicate similar teaching learning environment in the classroom.

Science (Class X)

The Programme has sessions that orient teachers to the policy guidelines and the context of teaching Science. Besides this, interactive sessions on writing objectives, lesson planning, effective instructional strategies, assessment and framing of test items among others are built into this programme manual.

Mathematics (Class X)

The Programme has sessions that orient teachers to current pedagogical issues and concerns in teaching of Mathematics. Various interactive learning sessions of the manual would equip Mathematics teachers to frame learning objectives, design instructional strategies that cater to diverse learners, create gender equitable environment in the classrooms, recognize the common errors committed by students and assess learners in a holistic manner.

Social Science (Class X)

The Programme has sessions that prompt teachers to deliberate upon the challenges of teaching Social Sciences in the present scenario. Sessions highlight the importance of teaching Social Science through an interdisciplinary approach and orient teachers towards lesson planning, effective instructional strategies, assessment and framing of test items among others.

Hindi-A (Class X)

The Programme has sessions that orient teachers to the policy guidelines of NCF 2005 in the context of teaching Hindi; current pedagogical issues and concerns in the teaching of Hindi and assessment in the subject. There are interactive learning sessions to equip Hindi teachers to frame learning objectives, design instructional strategies, standardization of script (Devnagari) and spelling.

English Core (Class XII)

The Programme has sessions that lend scaffold to teachers so that they are able to tackle the challenging areas in English Core during classroom transaction. The sessions discuss numerous strategies for teaching different genres of literature and skills along with some hands on activities.

Accountancy

The Programme has sessions that inculcate necessary skills for effective transaction of the curriculum in Accountancy. Sessions include the use of accountancy stories, fun Activities/Games etc; in effective teaching of the subject, familiarization with the Accountancy syllabus and its difficult areas, Project Work guidelines, recent changes introduced in the syllabus with the introduction of Companies Act 2013, Question Paper Design and Sample Question Paper.

Business Studies

The Programme has sessions that aim to inculcate necessary skills for effective transaction of the curriculum in Business Studies. It is a tool in the hands of Resource Person to orient participating teachers to the new trends in teaching Business Studies. Sessions facilitate capacity building of teachers by familiarizing them with the syllabus, difficult areas in Business Studies, pedagogical approaches, Project Work guidelines, Question Paper Design and Sample Question Paper.

History

The Programme has sessions that prompt teachers to deliberate upon the challenges of teaching History in the present scenario. Sessions highlight the pedagogical approaches suitable for the subject and orient teachers towards effective instructional strategies, assessment and framing of test items among others.

Economics

The Programme focuses on the nature of Economics and the latest trends in the teaching of the subject. Sessions highlight the pedagogical approaches suitable for the subject and orient teachers towards effective instructional strategies, assessment and framing of test items among others.

Psychology

Training programme on Psychology focus on acquainting participants with new developments in the subject matter of Psychology, different teaching strategies and skills for an effective engagement with the curriculum. The participants on the one hand learn about customized teaching strategies to cater to a wide range of needs of learners in the class and on the other they know about adopting interdisciplinary approach of teaching psychology. The program also present various dimensions of assessment with the use of different assessment tools to monitor and assess the progress of each student in the class. Conducting psychological experiments and tests, clarification about their procedure, and writing systematic reports are also covered in this programme.

Gujarati

The Programme has sessions that facilitate perception change in teachers to face challenges in teaching Gujrati in innovative ways. Participants explore ways to deal effectively with current pedagogical issues and concerns in the teaching of Gujrati and assessment through self-study and group activities. There are interactive learning sessions to equip Gujarti teachers to frame learning objectives, design instructional strategies, Standardization of script and spelling. The programme also aims to empowering teachers to nurture multiple intellectuals in students and enabling them to keep track of student progress through different evaluation methods.

Python Language training programme for Computer Science (083) and Informatics Practices (065)

The Python Language training programme is based on Python language and draws attention to key concepts which are fundamental to computing. Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Python Language for Computer Science (083) & Informatics Practices (065) based on curriculum 2019-20 are available in the following formats
  • One day orientation programme on fundamentals of Python language for Secondary / Senior Secondary school Computer Science teachers
  • Two day CBP for Senior Secondary level Computer Science teachers (Subject code 083)
  • Two day CBP for Senior Secondary level Informatics Practice teachers (Subject code 065)
Each day four sessions will be there. All topics related to Python as mentioned in the CBSE curriculum (2019-20) have been covered under these programmes. Concept explanation with easy to assimilate examples are the highlights of training module. For better understanding case studies, activities for classroom & lab sessions, handouts for each session includes pen paper activity as well as system hands on activity are being undertaken. Finally, a more pervasive goal is to expose all stakeholders not only to programming concepts but also to the rich functionalities provided by Python.

Classroom Management

The Programme has sessions that familiarize participating teachers with classroom managerial skills, techniques and effective strategies. It thus enables them to analyze their teaching style and strengthen it further to effectively manage large classes.

Values Education

The Programme has sessions that encourage the teachers to reflect upon the things that we value and the nature of values. It includes sessions related to inculcation of values and the whole school approach to values education.

Inclusion & Inclusive Strategies

The Programme has sessions that create awareness about the needs of differently abled children and prompts participating teachers to reflect on their attitude and knowledge of issues related to Children with Special Needs (CWSN). Sessions also provide participants inputs related to provisions, exceptions and certification for CWSN and also practical strategies for inclusion.

Career Guidance

The Programme has sessions that orient teachers about the importance of career guidance for students. It includes sessions on the changing world of work and the determinants of career guidance among others. The skills of seeking latest career information and organization of group guidance activities are also focused upon.

Gender Sensitivity

The Programme has sessions that provide guidelines to teachers for being responsive towards gender. It includes sessions on teaching through a gender sensitive pedagogy, using gender sensitive teaching learning materials, creating a gender sensitive classroom environment among other measures.

Life Skills

The Programme has sessions that familiarize participants with different Life Skills; creates awareness about the fact that Life Skills are an inherent part of different disciplines and motivates the teachers to focus on the promotion of these Life Skills.

Remodelled Structure of Assessment

The Programme has sessions that engage participants to represent the broad framework of the remodelled structure of assessment, activities related to Periodic Test, Notebook Submission and Subject Enrichment, tasks like preparation of Question Papers for Periodic Tests and framing of simple rubrics for Notebooks etc. Further, embedded sessions on Co-scholastic areas and documentation engage participants in deliberations abut Work Education, Health and Physical Education, Art Education and Discipline.

Adolescent Education

Training programme on Adolescent Education enable participants to articulate their views and opinions about adolescence and adolescents, explain various aspects of a school that makes it a child-friendly school , reflect upon concerns and needs of adolescence , identify and educate children about peer pressure and explain the physical, psychological, ethical, lifestyle differences or differences in reference to context. The program is full of interactive learning sessions to equip teachers to deal effectively with various issues concerning adolescents.

Stress Management

The one day training programme on stress management helps participants to identify different sources of stress in their lives and to understand the consequences of stress. Through participatory group discussion and brainstorming participants are expected to gain behavioural flexibility to better face stressful situations and know about various strategies to reduce stress. Through Self-assessment and experiential learning, participants exercises they set personal goals for self-care; and envision post CBP fellow support for stress management.

Joyful Mathematics

Two day programme on Joyful Mathematics aims to exhort teachers to encourage children to acquire the concept of mathematisation by enabling them to see relationships between numbers and looks for patterns in relationship. It helps participants to understand and apply concepts related to mathematics to solve real life problems and pose meaningful problems. Additionally, it provides opportunities to teachers to help children to learn mathematics through History and learn difficult concepts and use technological tool like Geogebra. Through interesting activities the programme facilitate teachers to inculcate in children an aesthetic sense by discovering symmetries in shapes and develop spatial understandings. Teachers learn to provide reasoning and convincing arguments to justify her/his own conclusions in mathematical context.

LEADING TRANSFORMATION-Programme for Principals on Leadership

Three Day programme targets to inculcate necessary skills for effective leadership and making the school a learning organization for the holistic growth of all students and teachers. It orients the principals towards various ways and methods which may help them and their school achieve their targets. It also focuses on helping the principals to identify and fix achievable targets with available resources. It aims equipping principals to understand the nuances and face the challenges in leading the schools in right direction and get desired results through team work.
The Programme addresses the Principals and Managers of newly affiliated schools of the Board. Various sessions are designed to handhold schools by providing inputs related to the functioning of the Regional Offices, examination and IT related issues. Also, inputs on CBSE CBP, Life Skills, Values and Physical Education is given.
Resource persons are experts who contribute information and opinions to participants in a learning situation. They frequently are used to conduct educational activities, but may also be helpful to a committee at the program planning stage Resource persons may be from within or outside the organisation. Base your selection on their knowledge of the topic and ability to successfully cover and communicate information to the audience. All programmes available under Subject Specific CBPs and General CBPs are included under this programme.
