Students of all CBSE affiliated schools studying in Classes 6-11 can participate in the science exhibition.
The Science Exhibition entries will be accepted in the following two (02) categories:
- Category 1 – Junior students of Classes 6-8
- Category 2 – Senior students of Classes 9-11
Schools must fill the registration details at the link and submit the requisite fee online for registration.
The last date for registration and online submission of project/exhibit is 27th October 2023.
Registration fee is not refundable under any circumstances. Hence, no such claim will be entertained by the Board.
No, it is not permissible and no request regarding change of venue or region by the participating school will be entertained by the Board.
The main theme is - “Science and Technology for Society.”
The sub-themes are:
- Health
- LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment)
- Agriculture
- Communication and Transport
- Computational Thinking
The exhibit should be an original creation of the participating student/team. It may be
- an investigation-based study.
- an application of basic principles of Science and Technology.
- a novel solution/indigenous design to a problem /challenge.
Each CBSE School can register a maximum of two teams. The teams can be one each for two categories or two teams for any one category.
A school team may be represented by a maximum of two students and one mentor Science Teacher.
The participating team can submit only ONE exhibit/project.
Yes. However, this needs to be within the same category (senior or junior).
The students would get approximately 21 days to develop the exhibit.
There are 03 Rounds
- (a) You can consult you mentor teachers in your school for expert advice. You can ideate and seek advice of mentor/ science teachers.
- (b) Do consult the CBSE website for resources and key guidelines.
- (c) Don’t forget to have a look at exemplars before you ideate.
- (d) CBSE also plans a webinar (date and time would be communicated in advance) to facilitate the process.
- Copied ideas from internet fail/fails plagiarism check.
- Are repetitions of a previous project submitted earlier in the CBSE Science Exhibitions.
- Display an unnecessary use of environmental unfriendly materials.
- Have multiple ideas without focus on a single idea/solution/answer.
The exhibit would be displayed at the CBSE Regional/National Level Science Exhibition. Hence, the exhibits must be limited to an area, which does not exceed 36 inches (91 cm) deep, front to back; 48 inches (122 cm) wide, side to side; and 5 ft (150 cm) high above the table top.

Yes, this is essential for the screening round. On the basis of the information submitted by the participants (write up, images, video, materials used etc.), a committee would evaluate the student’s work and recommend exhibits/projects for participation in the Regional round.
As you register successfully, you will be provided a unique user id and password to log on the portal. You have to develop you project and submit the details on this portal.

Yes, the selected teams from different school would be required to physically attend the Regional and National round of the science exhibition and display their exhibits.
All the participating schools shortlisted for the regional round will get an invite from CBSE. This will have detailed information about the venue or host school, dates of exhibition etc. A circular will also be uploaded on CBSE’s website. You are requested to check the academic website (http://www.cbseacademic.in) regularly for updates.
School team participating at the Regional and National level must remain the same. Schools must ensure that the same group of students/team and mentor teacher represent the school at national level in case the school qualifies for the national level. No request for change of team will be entertained by the Board.
No, the sub-theme cannot be changed. However the schools may further rework on the exhibit / project shortlisted at regional level for its display at national level.

The participating school/team will have to bear all expenses.
29. Who will make our travel and stay arrangements at the venue city for the Regional/National Fair?
The participating schools have to make their own arrangements. Host schools may be requested to provide guidance as and when required.
Travel and boarding & lodging expenses will be borne by the participating team/school only.
CBSE will not reimburse any such expenses.
Schools have to look after their students. No meals will be provided by host school or CBSE and neither will the expenses be reimbursed. Schools have to make their own arrangements for meals/food.
The timings of the exhibition will be from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on two days.
No team will be allowed to report late or leave before 5 p.m. on the days of exhibition. The travel plans may be made accordingly.
Yes, it is mandatory for all the participants to be present on all days. Attendance of all the participants from a school and of the mentor teacher is must on all two days. No child or teacher will be allowed to leave the venue during the exhibition hours.

Participating schools must report a day before the exhibition.
Every team must report to the Principal/Coordinator of the venue school.
School principal or coordinator of the science exhibition appointed by school principal may be contacted for exhibit display related requirements.
The model/exhibit should be arranged and set in all respects well in time i.e. one day in advance.
The school name and title of the exhibit should be displayed clearly. It should be ensured that exhibit is functional and is properly displayed. It should also be ensured that the model is displayed at the space provided to the school in the correct room under correct theme and sub-theme.
Teachers and students of neighbouring schools (host school will send an invite to them), participants from other schools, CBSE officers /officials will be visiting the exhibition.
Based on the results submitted by panel of judges, only shortlisted / qualified exhibits will be invited to participate at the national level exhibition.
In case the model/exhibit qualifies the regional level the school will be intimated regarding the venue and dates of National Level via email. A circular will also be placed on CBSE’s website in this regard after Regional Level.
A panel of judges /team of subject experts will judge /evaluate the exhibits /projects at the regional as well as at the national level.
- Winners of the National Level CBSE Science Exhibitions will get a merit certificate and cash prize.
- Winners may get a chance to participate in Rashtriya Bal Vaigyaanik Pradarshani, in 2023 to be organised by NCERT, also get a direct entry to participate in the prestigious National Fair (2023) organised by Initiative for Research & Innovation in Science (IRIS) subject to their selection for both the exhibition.
Approximately 25 exhibits will be selected at the National Level across sub-themes.
Initiative for Research and Innovation in STEM (IRIS) National Fair is a public – private partnership program funded by Department of Science & Technology (DST) and Broadcom; and implemented by Exstemplar Education Linkers Foundation.
IRIS promotes and nurtures Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) research amongst young Indian innovators. It recognizes and rewards outstanding projects and provides a platform for young innovators to get recognized at national and international STEM events. Selected Award-winning CBSE Science Exhibition projects will be invited to participate in a two day Mentoring and Evaluation Camp after which 5 projects will be selected for the IRIS National fair as lateral entries.
